Meet Deanne, owner and creator of Flannel on the Trail.
Why Flannel? I knew I wanted a one word name for my store but something that honored my father. After his passing in 2018, my mother presented my sister and me with blankets that she created from our father's clothing. When I decided to open the store, I was struggling with a name. Naming a store is so important and I wanted to get it right. One evening, I happed to look across the room and there it was, near his pictures - the flannel blanket.....and a name was given to the mission.
Flannel on the Trail was founded with a vision to create an exceptional shopping experience for our customers. Since our opening, we have grown to become a place to shop and find the perfect gift but we are also a place to create! Our makers host DIY workshop events at the shop several times a month.

IN PERSON!
We have been asked many times about the our building here, at Flannel on the Trail so we asked the Hancock Historical Society to do some research for us!
The Hancock Bank was organized in 1893 as a business. In February of 1894 the firm of 'Bridges & Handerson' submitted a proposal for the construction of the red brick building, now owned and in the process of renovation by Thomas Taylor. Construction was completed in 1895.
The addition to the right of the original bank structure followed a terrible fire on that lot. With the completion of this building, a 'Landmark' of our business history began.
For many years, the anchor name for this corner was 'Conn-Fine' - Conn and Fine Department Store location. Our Shoppe, is located in the section where Bess Fine ran a ladies dress shop. Her brother, ran the men's store on the adjourning side. These stores would later be run by the family of Ed James (Sr).
The list of stores that occupied this corner is quite extensive and some of which are; Goodwill, Hancock Pharmacy, Clarks Appliance and LeBell Shoppe.
Today, Flannel on the Trail occupies this space and we are so honored to be on main street, on the corner and part of the history of this amazing building.
Thank you to the Hancock Historical Society for provided this information. The Hancock Museum is located at 126 West High Street in the lower level of the Town Hall building. Hours of operation are Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.
